DevLog 1 - Work So Far

For the theme of missing I settled on the idea of the player operating a "Lost and Found" service, they would be required to respond to customer requests and sort through a container of junk to find their missing item in time!

Player Controls

The player moves with WASD and can jump with SPACE and picks up objects with the left mouse button, throwing them with the right mouse button or dropping them by clicking the left mouse button again.

Aesthetics

Originally the idea was to include a horror element to the game, there would be no jumpscares or monsters but the aesthetic and vibes would be unsettling. As I experimented with what I wanted my customers to look like I moved away from this idea, and eventually decided on a final design for my customers. I like to think that the player is now operating a lost and found for people trapped in limbo or some kind of afterlife.

Gameplay elements

The player is required to talk to customers, identify the object they want collected, and bring it to them within a time limit. Some objects will have special properties, such as cursed objects which will block out the players view past a short distance with a thick black fog. The player will be required to respond to every request per day.

UI

I want the UI to have a hand drawn feel and be almost single colour, I want each action to have a unique UI element assigned to it, currently I have one for the Talk function and am working on one for the Lift function
